This icon is from the Monastery of Our Lady Saidraya (the Monastery of St. Anne) in Jerusalem, the birthplace of the Theotokos. This icon shows 4 generations: Christ as a child, sitting on the Virgin Mary's lap, with her mother behind her (St. Anna) and St. Anna's mother behind her, also named Mary. This makes St. Anna his grandmother and St. Mary his great-grandmother. This icon is a photo image of a routed out original icon given to us by the monastery. For most formats, the blue will remain in the background.
